Sydney, Australia (2 nights)

We only stayed in Sydney for two nights before heading to Melbourne on Qantas’ new Dreamliner. Not to worry, we’ll be back in Syndey for 7 nights at the end of our time in Australia.

We spent our first night at Sydney Harbor YHA. We worked and slept during the day after our flight from Tokyo arrived early morning. We then went on a pretty epic pub crawl that was hosted by the hostel that evening.

The last bar we visited on the hostel’s pub crawl.

The next day we worked in the morning before going to eat lunch at a food court in Circular Quay. We had planned to eat at a burrito restaurant, but saw a Turkish pide restaurant next door and decided to order pide instead. The pide was great comfort food.

JT got a roll of sushi as well.

We moved to the Intercontinental Sydney Double Bay in the afternoon. We took a once-per-hour ferry from Circular Quay to Double Bay. This ferry provided excellent views of the Sydney Opera House and Bridge.

After checking in, we worked for a while in the room before getting dinner at the only fast food restaurant in Double Bay: Oporto. Katie opted for Bondi Bites and fries while JT ordered a chicken sandwich with fries. We found the Bondi Bites to be the superior choice.

We went to enjoy the roof-top pool – which we found isn’t really for swimming – before heading to sleep early.

We worked the next morning until check-out time. After checking out we took an Uber to Sydney airport since public transport would have taken longer and cost about the same price.
