We booked the Clean and Green AirBnB in Novi Sad, Serbia for 8 nights. We paid $208.96 total, for an average of $26.12 per night.

The Host

This property had no prior reviews, but we decided to give it a chance due to promised quick Internet speeds. The host was very quick at communicating and prepared a nice information pdf.

The host doesn’t live in Novi Sad currently – and uses one room of the apartment as a storage area that she calls Wonderland – but her mother met Katie to check-up and also came to check-us out. The mother doesn’t speak much English, but the transfers of the apartment keys went well.

The Apartment

The apartment worked perfectly for us. It really is perfectly set up for working from home for an extended stay.

The entrance area had a half bathroom and a chair for putting on and taking off shoes.  There was a closet for hanging coats.

The living room had two sofas, a lounge chair, and two nested coffee tables.

There was a desk built into the half wall between the living room and the kitchen.

There was a patio attached to the living room. There was a large drying rack with clothing pins on the patio.

The dining room is located between the living room and kitchen. JT set-up his office on the four-seat dining room table. The chairs were sturdy and had seat cushions. There was an excellent smelling cinnamon candle on the table. A bottle of wine and two glasses also greeted us upon arrival.

The kitchen was spacious and very well stocked.

There was plenty of plates, glasses, bowls, utensils, pots, pans, scissors, bag clips, wine opener, and more.

There was a toaster, microwave, stove, oven, water kettle, mini-fridge and drying rack. There was also coffee, salt, pepper, sponges, and linens. There was really nothing missing in the kitchen.

The main bathroom was also large and well stocked.

There was a washer with a new, full box of laundry detergent.

The shower worked well. There was plenty of toilet paper and mini soaps and shampoos.

There were two bath towels and two hand towels – as well as a hand towel in the half-bath – that smelled wonderful.

The bedroom was spacious and well-lit.  The bed has hard but comfortable, and there were personal comforters (which we prefer). There were night tables on both sides of the bed, each with a little lamp.

There was a large comfortable lounge chair and plenty of storage.  There were window shutters that could be lowered to block out light and sound and keep the heat in. There was also a patio off of the bedroom.

The apartment as a whole was very nicely decorated – from seasonal gourds and flowers in the kitchen to books on the shelves to little touches that made it feel like home.

There were multiple living plants in the apartment as well.

There were also some seasonal decorations between the kitchen and the dining room.

The apartment did seem to have thin walls – we could hear a guy laughing below us frequently and a baby crying above us. The baby seemed to sleep right above our bedroom – it never woke us up, but it did make getting to sleep difficult a few times.

The stairway lighting was also a bit nuanced. Each floor only had one light switch in the middle of the stairway, so sometimes you would have to walk in the dark to find it.  Likewise, if the light was on and you tried to push the button to reset the timer, this wouldn’t work – so sometimes we’d mind ourselves halfway down a stairway when the lights went out. A flashlight solved our issues though.

The Neighborhood

The apartment is on the third floor of a residential condo/apartment building in the Liman neighborhood. There are four apartment/condos on each floor of the building. Liman seems to be full of young families – there is an elementary school next to the building.

Our host recommended various places to eat in the neighborhood. She was spot on for the ones we tried – we particularly loved Organic Factory which was right across the street.

Liman Park is also nearby – it’s small, but is pleasant to walk through. There is a skate park where mostly young kids were improving their skills under the watchful eye of their parents.  There’s also a walking/jogging/biking path along the Danube River near the apartment that leads to the city center and fortress.

There are multiple pharmacies and large grocery stores nearby – a Maxi across the street and a hypermarket less than a 10 minute walk away.

Overall Thoughts

This was the nicest AirBnB we’ve stayed in so far. The host put nice welcoming touches and the apartment was spacious and well-designed for a longer-term work trip.

The neighborhood was perfect as well – residential but within walking distance of many good restaurants and the touristy area.
