AAMAS-16: Jakarta to Tokyo Narita

This series is written by Katie about her trip to AAMAS 2016 in Singapore, Singapore.

Once allowed to enter the airport, I checked in with JAL.  In addition to my boarding passes, I also received a lounge invite for the Pura Indah Lounge.

I quickly cleared security and immigration.  I wandered the terminal quickly, but was generally disappointed by both its style and offerings.  I was happy to head to the Pura Indah Lounge.

Once at the lounge, I was invited into the small First Class side of the lounge.  This side of the lounge was very empty, with just two other passengers entering the lounge during my entire visit.  The food spread was ample, including soups, warm foods, cold foods, desserts, juices, bottled sodas, and beer.

After enjoying the lounge, I headed to the gate to board.  For this 777-300ER flight, I had chosen the window seat in a two seat pair at the back of the smaller forward economy cabin (27K). This was the last long flight where I would choose a window seat because the guy in the window seat was impossible to wake the one time I decided to get up during the flight.  After this, I decided I would always sit in the aisle when traveling solo on long-haul flights to avoid this situation.

Since this flight was overnight, we were served a small meal of rice crackers and a sandwich shortly after take-off.  Before landing we were served a bigger ‘breakfast’ meal.  My meal was pancakes, spinach, potatoes, and sausage with a variety of sides.

We landed in a rainy Tokyo Narita around 7:30am.
